
Lasagna Bolognese
Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 carrot, finely grated
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 0.5 cup red wine (optional but classy)
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 3 cup béchamel sauce (butter, flour, milk)
- 1.5 cup shredded mozzarella
- 0.5 cup grated Parmesan
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and lay flat.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion, carrot, and celery; cook 5–6 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute.
- Add ground beef and brown, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and red wine (if using). Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper; simmer 10–15 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Spread a thin layer of Bolognese on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Layer noodles, Bolognese, béchamel, and cheeses; repeat until ingredients are used, ending with béchamel and a final sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
